“My artwork saved me on more than one
occassion. I had so little for so long. I looked for beauty in a world that had only
hurt me, nearly killed me, had taken my life, my joy, my childhood. I looked inside
and I found life. I found beauty. I found my joy, my heart, my will to live. I found
my strength. I found the love, the spirit that had kept me alive and nourished me
when I thought I was most alone. My pain was clearly there in my earlier work. The
joy, the triumph, the strength, the Spirit is present in my later work.”
